So here I sit, peacefully knitting. My husband looked over at my knitting, scrunched his nose, and said "What are you making?"
What am I making?? You mean you couldn't figure it out from the tangled mess I've made? Lesson number one this evening, when working with more than two colors - KEEP THEM UNTANGLED. (probably a safe bet even when you only have two colors!)
Sadly, this is what happens when you're so excited to cast on a new project that you are happily oblivious to the tangle you are creating as your needles fly.
When I was at Vogue Knitting Live in New York City last month, my friends at Berroco were handing out delicious samples, I even saw some copies of their afghan book and it left me feeling inspired! They have a great selection of free patterns on their website, including an afghan from their book called Autumn Haze. The yarn they used is called Comfort. It's a washable worsted weight, great for kids stuff or things like a blanket that may get a little used and abused in the living room.
Maybe it's the lack of winter this year in Connecticut, but this autumn inspired blanket somehow spoke to me. It reminded me of those chilly fall days, when the promise of snowy days and good knitting weather is in the air. sigh, if only. But the colors go with my living room and the pattern seems interesting enough to make me want to knit an entire blanket and simple enough to knit while watching TV. In other words, this yarn and pattern combo is a win win.
And now that I have untangled the yarns, it looks a LOT better:
